Today was pretty much a day off for me. I went to see Bard College Women’s Volleyball in a Tri-match, (three schools, three matches), The first match started at 10 am and the last one finished at 5 pm. Why? My daughter is the head coach! I love watching volleyball. And the kids are simply awesome to interact with. We had a great time and since it runs all day we, of course, have to eat. Today we decided we didn’t want pizza or Chinese or even a fast food burger. As luck would have it there are other alternatives within a few miles of Bard College in Red Hook, NY. J & J Gourmet Cafe has a superior menu and you can order take-out or dine-in. Is that fabulous decor or what?
I ordered a perfect Italian sandwich that came with a pickle and chips or an apple. Served on a baguette, it came with a mix of Italian meats, provolone, lettuce, tomato, red onion and oil & vinegar. Easily one of the best sandwiches I have enjoyed in some time.
Stefanie ordered the Seared Tuna Salad. O.M.G! It came with a very generous portion of sesame seared rare tuna steak served over a bed of fresh greens with thai peanut noodles, toasted peanuts and a ginger soy vinaigrette.
If you are in the Red Hook area, or even close for that matter, you really must stop here for lunch.
